مركز أبحاث الجينوم للأمراض المكونة للدم

The Genome Research Center for Hematopoietic Diseases (GRCHD) is funded by the government, Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), Korea and is one of twelve disease based genome research centers designated by MOHW. The center’s main interest is to understand the molecular events and its players in the pathogenesis of leukemic diseases. In recent years researchers around the world have contributed toward the completion of human genome map. In addition, knowledge on proteome and disease associated SNP are rapidly growing. However there is increasing need to perform ethnic based, disease oriented genome researches due to considerable human genomic variations among ethnic origins. To address this, the center focuses on sampling and long term preservation of genomic DNA, serum, bone marrow, EBV transformed clones from Korean patients with hematopoietic malignancies, systematic construction of clinical information database, multi dimensional study using cutting edge technologies with collaborating groups in the field. We have five research teams,
1) Informatics and genetic association studies team led by Prof. HJ Kim,
2) DNA chip based expression profiling studies team led by Prof. TS Kim(Korea University),
3) Leukemia proteome studies team led by Dr SY Cho (Chung-Ang University),
4) Diagnostics and novel treatment development studies team led by DW Kim (Catholic University Medical School).
The center nearing its first stage of 10 year research term is generating the momentum to achieve the goal Providing better quality of life to the patient and family suffering from leukemia with better diagnostics and treatment.
